Film Riot is a great resource for information ranging from basid DIY to more advanced concepts and techniques. There are numerous videos to watch to learn many of hollywood's techniques on a smaller budget.

SBIFF Director Panel

Recorded panel from the 2010 SBIFF director panel. This video has participants Quentin Tarantino, Todd Philips, Pete Doctor, Lee Daniels, James Cameron, and Kathryn Bigelow. You can also view other years with other directors. There is some great information which you can hear straight from the elite. There are also panels for writers and actors as well. This link will make it easy to find all of them.
